Ive been experimenting with some of my old fabric to create clothing using multiples of basic shapes.
The pictures below are all "made" with two squares. The idea was to make one piece of clothing that can easily be transformed into somthing else by the user. This was a very very basic exercise but it gave me and idea of how to take things further.
I've been working on a dress made of triangles. I must say its quite a puzzle. It's hard to get the triangles to fit together and work around the body in the right ways. It's a lot of playing around and experimenting but it's starting to look like something. I'm not sure if i like the shape, so i'm going to have to keep moving things around to see what works best. ( The idea with this dress is that the triangles are detachable and so the user can play with the colour and the form of the dress. It is also meant to minimize fabric wastage considering the triangles can be easily cut with out wasting any fabric. Once a certain part of the dress needs replacement it can be done easily, without having to put in much of an effort.)
Below a few photos of the dress in progress:
I have also decided the colour palette and feel that i'd like to work with for now.
Here's my mood board.
